EEG

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

Visualization of human brain electrical activity

An EEG (Electroencephalogram) measures the brain’s electrical activity through electrodes placed on the scalp, which is useful in diagnosing various medical conditions.

  • Take all your medications normally, unless your physician has instructed you otherwise.
  • Eat normally.
  • Please come showered with clean dry hair free of any conditioners, hairspray, mousse, gels, or oils.
  • Electrodes or leads will be attached to your scalp with a special paste or glue. The technician will do his or her best to remove all the glue. However, in many cases, some of the glue may still be attached to the scalp when you leave and it may look like your scalp is flaking. Washing your hair with shampoo should return your hair to normal.
  • There are no specific discharge instructions for an EEG and you can resume your normal activities.
